We are a diverse group of open-minded and open-hearted people seeking the transformation of ourselves and the world towards greater compassion, caring, health, wisdom, and joy.
The Cosmic Christ Sophia Community is an alternative Catholic gathering that seeks to explore and re-imagine the Christian Path in ways that reflect the evolving consciousness of our times. We continue to discover new meanings and inspiration for our lives in the Heart-centered message and way of our brother teacher, Jesus. We expand our vision of the Cosmic Christ that Jesus embodied as the Light of God shining throughout all of Creation since the beginning of Time. This opens our eyes to the preciousness of all life, including Nature and our Planet. Seeking wholeness of understanding, we integrate into our services, studies, and practices the Wisdom (Sophia) from many of the other great and radical spiritual teachers throughout history, including those from other faith households; as well as early Christian mystics and writings that did not find their way into the (canonical) bible.
While we cherish many elements of our ancient Eastern and Western Catholic lineages, we consider ourselves a post-Imperialistic church. We are independent of any umbrella Church domination, although we maintain collegial affiliations with other Independent Catholic jurisdictions. We are free to reject or reinterpret certain core doctrines of traditional Christianity that are not in alignment with our awakening understanding and experience. We are non-dogmatic and non-creedal because we hold a deep respect for personal experience and encourage freedom of thought.
We are an affirming congregation, open to all people regardless of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or physical ability. This includes all sacraments, as well as pursuit of Holy Orders.
While our home base is Rio Rancho and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Zoom has allowed our gatherings to grow beyond the constraints of place. If you are looking for a spiritual path and community that offers ancient sacraments and contemplative practices, encourages mystical energetic experience, invites the expression of individual gifts within the life of the Community, and nurtures the discovery of deep meaning and guidance for your Soul, we welcome you to come and explore with us!
